Gujia

Gujia is a popular sweet dish of north India. Gujia recipe is associated with the festival of Holi. The festival of Holi is known for its colors as well as scrumptious recipes. Several recipes like Dahi Bhalle, Bhaang Pakode, Thandai, Papadi and Gujia are the special dishes for the festival. Gujiya is a scrumptious sweet dish prepared using maida and khoya. It is a must to make Holi dish in most of the Indian homes. Though the preparation of Gujiya requires a little time and efforts, the taste of this delicious recipe is worth it. The best thing about Gujiya is that it can be used as a sweet dish, dessert as well as snacks. It can also be preserved for along time without any effort. If you are also interested in making Gujiya this Holi, the recipe is given below.


Ingredients:
1 kg Khoya
500 gms Sugar
500 gms Maida
200 gms Almonds, chopped
6 tbsp Cooking oil
3 tbsp Raisins
200 ml Water


How to make Gujia:
Combine maida with 6 tbsp of oil using your fingers. Make soft dough and knead it lightly. Add water if needed. Cover with a wet cloth and leave aside. In a frying pan, deep-fry the khoya till light brown in color.
Add chopped almonds, sugar and raisins and mix well. Fry again for few minutes. Allow the mixture to cool.
Prepare a small and thick chapati from the kneaded dough. Stuff half of the chapati with the khoya mixture. Fold and draw the edges of chapati inwards to close. On slow fire, deep-fry the gujia till golden brown. Take out using a sieve and drain the oil properly. Store them in an airtight container.
Repeat the procedure with remaining dough.

Masala Buttermilk

Buttermilk is a very healthy drink containing low fat skimmed milk. In bangalore now days it is very very hot, me after coming back form korea it is being little difficult to adjust here. I am not even feeling like going out some where because of the sun. Before i use to never feel like having buttermilk,but now what to do, to cool in this kind of weather i have to have it :) There is a saying never say no to food.........
Tickle your taste buds with this cool tasty drink :))



Ingredient's 
  • 2 cups plain yoghurt
  • 3 cups chilled water
  • 1 tsp. coriander leaves, 1/2 onion, 1 stalk curry leaves, 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste


Method
  • Beat curds with whipper till smooth.
  • Add water, churn well.
  • Make a powder of cumin seeds and add it to butter milk
  • Add coriander, curry leaves, onion and green chilli. stir to mix everything.
  • Pour into a large ceramic, glass or earthen pot or jug.
  • Chill for one or two hours till required.
  • Serve chilled as a cool refreshing drink or with rice.

Fish Curry


Ingredient's
  • 250 gms fish washed, sliced
  • 1 cup coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp methi seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • A pinch turmeric powder
  • Salt To Taste
  • Oil as required.
Cooking Method
  • Marinate the fish in salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
  • Shallow fry the fish pieces, drain and keep aside.
  • Grind the coriander leaves, garlic and green chillies. and grind tomato to a smooth paste separately.
  • Heat oil, add masala paste and fry till the oil separates out.
  • Add tomatoes, methi seeds and powder masalas and fry till the oil begins to float on top.
  • Add about 1 cup water. Bring the gravy to a boil.
  • Add the fish slices and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Serve fish curry hot.

Mango Milk Shake

Hello everyone, i am back...... Ufffff after so much of work finally i got time to start blogging again. Here in India, it is really HOT but whatever I love coming back home. One more good news is that in this season you'll get lot of mango's and i love mango's .To celebrate my new house set up i made mango milk shake. Starting a new life in india :-)


Ingredient's
Mango - 2 big 
Chilled milk - 1 cup 
Sugar - 3 tbl spoons 
Crushed ice - as required chillness 
Vanilla ice cream - 1 small cup (optional) 


Method
Peel and get the pulp of the mango 
Blend the remaining ingredients with the mango pulp in a blender or a juicer till the milk shake become frothy 
Serve Cold.
